Placing Stickers on Site

Learn where and how to place Buildots stickers to ensure accurate location tracking and data capture.

Watch this video of Buildots Academy to learn about sticker placement on site.

Understanding the Sticker

Each sticker has two main parts:

  • The Top Part: Contains text like "Level 3" or "P1." This helps the technician identify the correct sticker for each floor.

  • The Bottom Part: Contains a unique barcode. The system reads this to link the video to the specific floor.

Using the correct sticker in each video is critical, as using a different one will actively mislead the system.

Guidelines for Sticker Placement

To ensure the system works correctly, follow these rules when placing your stickers:

  1. Placement: Attach stickers to fixed, structural parts of the building, such as concrete columns or core walls. Avoid temporary surfaces like un-taped drywall or doors.

  2. Location: Place stickers indoors near the entry point of your capture walk. For very large floors, use one sticker at each main entrance. Always begin your video capture at one of these stickers.

  3. Orientation: The sticker must be placed vertically, not sideways or at an angle.

  4. Height: Place the sticker at eye level - about 1.5 meters (5 feet) from the floor so the camera can see it easily.

  5. Visibility: Ensure the sticker is in a well-lit area and not hidden by dust, shadows, or construction materials.

Maintenance and Best Practices

Construction sites change quickly, and stickers can be damaged or covered. It is a good idea to carry spare stickers for each floor during your walks. If a sticker is damaged, replace it in the same spot immediately.
