Watch this video of Buildots Academy to learn about the Segments page in the Configuration Center.
What Is the Segments Page in the Configuration Center?
The Segments page helps you understand how your project was divided into meaningful scopes of work, called Segments.
Segments are Buildots’ way of grouping areas into units that reflect how work is actually expected to unfold on-site. Construction doesn’t always follow a simple, linear path — the same activity might be completed in one area while still pending in another due to dependencies, access, or deliveries. Segments help capture this planned variability.
They are not just visual zones — Segments represent real scopes of work: groups of areas that are typically built together, follow a shared activity sequence, and carry shared risks.
With this screen, you can:
See the physical layout of each Segment on the floor plan
View the activity flow, including their planned dates and duration
Compare the area coverage of different Segments
Understand how activities are sequenced and how the project is expected to unfold
This view is for understanding only. No editing can be done yet.
Key Actions and Benefits
Explore planned dates and durations View planned start and end dates for each activity in the Segment — based on your uploaded schedule.
See the activity flow Check the planned activity sequence for each Segment to understand the construction logic behind it.
View the floor plan Explore the physical layout of each Segment and the areas it includes. Hover to view area-specific planned dates.
Compare Segments Use the map to visually compare your selected Segment with another one and understand where each takes place.
Request changes Use the "Contact Buildots" button in the info panel if you need to update something in your Segments.
Special Tips and Common Mistakes
Tips:
🔹 Hover over areas on the map to see when they are scheduled to start and end for this Segment.
🔹 You can select a second Segment to visually compare it with the main one.
Common Mistakes:
⚠ Thinking this screen shows actual progress. All data here is based on the planned schedule only.
⚠ Assuming segments are just visual zones. They are built around activity logic and risk, not just physical layout.
FAQs
Q: Can I change the segment structure myself?
A: Not yet. We’re currently exploring options to make certain edits available in the future. For now, if you’d like to request a change, click the Contact Buildots button on the screen.
Q: Why do I see dates and progress, but no real status?
A: All data shown on this page reflects the planned schedule only. It does not track actual progress on site.
Q: Why is a Segment not shown on some floors?
A: Not every Segment exists on every floor. Some Segments include only certain levels based on your project's structure and logic.
